Physician Commentary: What Air Quality Policy Means for Patient Health

A new commentary from a local pediatric pulmonologist on air quality, public health, and environmental policy.

Dear Colleagues,

The Academy of Medicine of Cincinnati has released a new Physician Commentary examining the potential public health implications of the recent withdrawal of the EPA’s 2009 Endangerment Finding.

Authored by a local pediatric pulmonologist, the article explores the connections between air quality, environmental policy, and patient health, including a growing body of evidence associating air pollution with respiratory disease, cardiovascular illness, adverse pregnancy outcomes, and childhood health impacts.

It also addresses the economic arguments surrounding environmental regulation and highlights why these issues are particularly relevant for patients and communities in Ohio.
