Academy member provides update on hospitalizations

Academy member Thomas Lamarre, MD, medical director for infectious diseases at The Christ Hospital, joined Ohio Gov. Mike Dewine at his Cincinnati stop on November 18 to address the state of COVID-19 in Ohio.

Dr. Lamarre provided an update on what hospitals are looking like in Cincinnati. He reported that there’s a dramatic rise in hospitalizations, which threatens to overwhelm hospitals; adding that hospital administrators and workers meet daily to balance beds and staffing to meet the demand. Staff members are trying to balance medical care and COVID-19 care.

"Health care workings have been working tirelessly for the past eight months," Dr. Lamarre said, thanking all the health care workers in the region for their hard work.

Several local news outlets reported on the event.
