As Cincinnatians, we can safely count on a few things: the Bengals losing their first (few) games of the season, chocolate chips the size of golf balls in our Graeter's ice cream, and random 90 degree days throughout fall. Otherwise, not much else is predictable these days. In knowing this, our team at The Academy of Medicine should have known better than to predict a quieter summer period.

Over the coming weeks, we'll be filling you in on what we've been up to and exciting projects on the horizon aimed at supporting you and the community. In the meantime, put your competitive hats on and save the date for our first ever Pickleball Tournament Fundraiser-Save the Date for Nov. 14th from 6-9 at Aces.  This event is open to all in the healthcare community, so break out the pickleball puns and banter with colleagues now!

Never played? No problem! The tournament is open to all levels and we'll have an "Intro to Pickleball" session to get you dinking in no time.

Prefer to be a spectator? Join us and enjoy food, drinks, yard games and raffles in addition to cheering on your colleagues.

On the evening of September 10, The Wellness Team at Cincinnati Children's hosted "The Disposables" Exhibit and evening reception for members of the healthcare community. The exhibit by artist Jeremy Rosario featured portraits of physicians who have died by suicide, created using disposable medical equipment. 

Attendees had the opportunity to experience the portraits, positioned alongside biographies of each physician, and scribe messages on a collage made with surgical masks.  

The Academy was proud to support the initiative with attendee gift bags including mental health resources and self care items.

Highlights from our 2024 50 Year Physician Awards Luncheon

On August 28th, the Academy honored our local physicians with 50 Years of service to the profession. The venue was filled with peers coming together to celebrate honorees, many of whom had known each other since their "Class of '74" days.

In addition to the awards program and lunch, attendees took part in a "1974 Trivia" contest courtesy of our Sponsor, Seasons.
