News for Academy Members and the Cincinnati Medical Community

Incorporating our Star Wars theme into last year's Annual Meeting & Awards arose by happy coincidence with the date falling on "May the Fourth." The green Yoda cocktails, photo ops with Darth Vader, and excessive use of Star Wars puns was simply the icing on the cake for an already wonderful evening.

This year, however, our theme Mission: Possible is done with intention.

Although the Academy's mission to support physicians and health of our community has remained unchanged for 168 years, the reality is that obstacles to reaching "mission: accomplished" status continue to grow. While our success hinges on physicians coming together, increased time constraints, siloed environments, and miles long red tape impede collaboration. With this in mind, we have tremendous gratitude for physicians going above and beyond in areas core to our mission.

On the evening of Thursday, April 25th, we will be honoring physicians who make our "Mission: Possible" at our 168th Annual Meeting & Awards. Details for the evening may be found below.

We invite you to join us in celebrating these physician leaders for their service in medical education, advocacy, physician collaboration, and community health.

Education

The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) is currently recruiting practices for a no-cost, 18-month program beginning in June 2024 to promote appropriate antibiotic use while maintaining patient satisfaction and reducing potential side effects in patients seen via telemedicine. Practices will receive training and one-on-one expert coaching to implement sustainable improvements in the diagnosis and treatment of infections in the telemedicine environment. Practices will learn how to improve workflow efficiencies and participants will be eligible for continuing education units (CEUs), continuing medical education (CME) credits, and American Board of Internal Medicine maintenance of certification (MOC) points. Learn more and sign up for an informational webinar on the program website: safetyprogram4telemedicine.org.
